Jacinta McEwen ND has been practising the healing arts for over twenty years, working individually as well as facilitating workshops and trainings in Australia and overseas. Initially trained as a Nurse at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, she went on to become a Naturopath, Herbalist, Massage Therapist, Yoga teacher and Ayurvedic Consultant.
Jacinta began practicing Yoga and meditation at the age of thirteen and has been inspired and nourished by these ancient practices ever since. She trained as a Brahma Kumari with Raja Yoga in Australia in 1979 and opened a meditation teaching centre in Auckland, NZ in her early twenties. In 1984 she met Prof. Bhim Dev and trained further in the yogic arts with him. She also completed a Sivananda Yoga teacher training in Rishikesh in India. These forms all influence her current practice and teaching style, which is also inspired by Iyengar, Paramhansa Yogananda and Maya Tiwari.
In 1990 Jacinta completed a Naturopathic Diploma and a Diploma of Herbalism at QINS. Her training in Massage Therapy includes diplomas in Swedish, Remedial, Shiatsu and Ayurvedic massage. She also has a Diploma of Rebirthing and Touch for Health certification.
After the home-birth of her eldest son Jacinta attended many births and trained as a lay midwife. She gained much experience working with women during this time and developed a particular interest in women’s health care. She also has a profound interest in cleansing and has been specialising in cleanse support for many years.
Jacinta completed a Foundation Training in Clinical Ayurveda with Dr Rajen Coopan in 2000 and then went on to study Certificate IV in Ayurvedic Medicine with Dr Ajit of AIAS. She continues to study Ayurvedic Medicine with Dr Ajit and helps to co-ordinate his trainings in Australia.
She is currently a partner in the thriving organic herbal dispensary, Mullum Herbals, in her home town of Mullumbimby in Northern NSW on the east coast of Australia. Jacinta offers Naturopathic consultations and Ayurvedic lifestyle support both in person and over the phone. She also teaches yoga and offers bodywork and Ayurvedic treatments such as Shirodara, Nasya, Khati Basti for those lucky enough to live in the vicinity. She also facilitates workshops and lectures on a range of health related topics including Women’s health, Ayurveda and natural First Aid.
Jacinta is profoundly inspired by the mind, body, spirit connection and as a mother of four teenage boys she keeps a fresh outlook on life. She is passionate about holistic lifestyle and education and health and wellness on all levels.
